ARNO 2010 - PUPPY PEN

I'm on my hands and knees in the puppy pen, holding a paint scraper. What's my job?

I don't mind, actually volunteered for it. Gives the regulars a break from the poo. Again this year, puppies bite my hair and hold on, so I am walking around with puppies hanging from my head like dreadlocks.

We didn't post at all last year? Well, we went to ARNO again and will trickle in stories. We also just got back from this year's visit. We wanted to spend some time helping to work with wildlife hurt by the oil spill, but nothing was happening yet.

We left Friday the 21st of June, the oil hit land late night on the 20th.

Commerce City Greyhound Racing...

is closing early this year on June 8th. That means about 200 dogs will need homes. Lucky for them if that means we can find the homes for them.

Colorado Greyhound Adoption is looking for foster parents and adopters. I personally love to foster, as I get to know the dogs and teach them what is is like to be in the real world. It's sort of the best part, seeing them realize that, "Hey, I can sleep on the couch! Who'd a thunk????"

Giving them up to adopters is not that bad - I think of it as is they are kids goin goff to college. I've loved them and helped them and now I can help another one when they have moved on.

If anyone that reads this would consider adopting or fostering, please contact me.

Levees.ORG videos

Levees.org is a grass-roots organization formed to press for answers to questions about the catastrophic levee failures which destroyed most of the housing in New Orleans and left thousands of pets stranded, the primary reason the "original" ARNO formed in 2005 and continued when we locals assumed the helm in 2006.

There is a youtube broadcast levees.org is asking everyone to view in hope of boosting the video to the top of youtube's most watched videos. The video is on one minute long, take some time to watch it .

Windsor

Tornado in Windsor May 23 - Marsha and I went up there the next day to see if we could help. We ended up helping a family pick up their belongings from a 1/4 - mile area. A few houses were demolished, but all in all it wasn't to bad, in that only one person died and a lot of the area had blown out windows or other small damage. Crews were all over the 2nd day cleaning up and checking for survivors and lost pets.

French Quarter Gallery

We have a show right now at the French Quarter Gallery, 522 4th Avenue, in Longmont. That is otherwise "right behind Ziggie's Coffee shop at 4th and Main. Tim Ellis is the owner, and a helluva guy. He and his family moved up here after Katrina. Stop in anytime and he'll spent the time of day with you.

Opening night was successful, and we sold a number of note cards for the shelter. No big pieces yet, but keep your fingers crossed. Also, for opening night Tim's wife made the most amazing Jambalaya and Peach Crisp - I haven't tasted that good since I lived down south.

Today Channel 7 news covered the opening on the 4 o'clock. Nice job - and Billie and Jessie are both on tv now!
